Mask Making Blog
Purpose
In January, 2013 I traveled to Arezzo, Italy to study at the Academia dell'Arte. While there, I learned a variant of the traditional method of making leather Commedia del Arte masks. I have since taken my skills back to Dickinson College, where I enrolled in an independent study course to continue my exploration of this technique by focusing primarily on our main-stage department show, Conference of the Birds by Jean Carriére and Peter Brook. This blog is a documentation of my work abroad and at school, and is the final project for my independent study, titled Italian Commedia Mask Making & Performance Techniques.
